Border of Darfur member New Life Ministry (NLM)
Take a tour of Make Way Partners’ New Life Ministry member in Southern Sudan along the Darfur border.
This region was the hardest hit during the five decades of war between the north and the south and has a continual flow of returning slaves and refugees from Darfur. Our indigenously run ministry is strategically located in Nyamlel to specifically care for widows and orphans at risk to genocide, persecution and slavery.
MWP’s NLM has approximately 100 acres and currently includes a school, church, medical clinic and three orphan homes. Here we provide complete care for hundreds of orphans, protecting them from the slave raiders.
This orphanage is unique in that we receive both Darfur Muslim orphans and Southern Sudan Christian/Animist orphans. Their parents killed each other. Now, together, they learn about the love of Christ side-by-side and begin a long journey of healing, forgiveness and restoration. We provide their housing, education, medical needs, food, clothing, discipleship, 24-hour armed guard security and provide them with a loving home.
We also receive, disciple, train and employ former sex-slaves who escaped from their Muslim captors in the North.
