NLM Boys & Girls Orphanage
The
brutal persecution, slavery and genocide enacted against the
indigenous people of Sudan by the invading Islamic government
have created an estimated one million orphans. Sudanese orphans
have no form of child services or housing; they are left to
fend for themselves – alone in the desert. 278 orphans died
in our ministry area from January to October 2006 simply from
not having a safe place to sleep at night. The number
one cause of death was hyena attack. They are also
extremely vulnerable to slave raiders when they are left alone.
Often, when we first
receive a small child, he is vowing to seek revenge and kill
those who killed his father and raped and killed his mother.
Over time, with loving Christ-centered care, we see we are
raising-up a generation of educated Peace Makers!
A key to long-term sustainable success
is indigenous leadership. Ours is more than 100 members strong.
Each person receives training and discipleship in the area
where they are called to serve.
