CLAYTON COUNTY -- The Clayton County Sheriff says several massage parlors were not only fronts for prostitution, but also forced women new to this country to sell their bodies. Sheriff Victor Hill says one woman was a sex-slave for the last 4 years.

When officers raided several spas in Clayton County, they arrested several people for acts of prostitution. Officers and the sheriff say they had no idea some of the women were sex slaves, forced to sell their bodies to stay in this country.

“I think that it is an atrocity that it's happening in Clayton County and I think it's very, very sad that this went of for years and nothing was done about it,” said Sheriff Victor Hill.

Sheriff Hill is personally appalled that immigrant women who came to this country for a better life were forced to be sex slaves at massage parlors the sheriff says were fronts for prostitution. Hill says an investigation determined that several Asian women were being held against their will.

“One was a heartbreaking case. She actually escaped at one point and was caught and brought back and she was assaulted and she even had an STD and was still forced to perform various sex acts,” said Sheriff Hill.

The sex trade allegations came to light during a December raid on 14 massage parlors around Clayton County. The raid focused on massage parlors that were fronts for prostitution, but Hill says officers soon determined 4 of the spas were holding women against their will.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the massage parlor raids and more charges are on the way for the sex slave allegations.

“We're looking at everything from false imprisonment to kidnapping,” said Hill. “And we plan to make sure that a massage parlor/prostitution house never opens in Clayton County again.”

The women who were forced into prostitution are now being held by the federal government. All of the spas in Clayton County are shut down as a result of the raid and Hill thinks law enforcement in every county should take a look at massage parlors to make sure slavery isn't taking place there.
