Speak Out:
Robin
Manning
I
first met Kimberly Smith, the founder of MWP, in Wilmington,
NC. I was at a prayer meeting at a little elderly lady's house
when I heard Kimberly speak to about eight of us. She had
no pictures just her voice speaking of the needs of God's
children in Sudan. I had no idea that this kind of pain was
happening in this day in time. I couldn't stop thinking about
it. I told my friends and family and they immediately wanted
to do something.
We were first able
to put together a Holiday Market of local venders to bring
about awareness and donations. Four of us ran a marathon for
the MWP children. Two of my three children wanted to help
by collecting donations for their birthday party instead of
presents.
In Oct. of 2008,
the children of our church (see
picture below) made themselves prayer pillows
and they were each able to choose a name of an orphan to pray
for. We have about 120 of our kids praying for 120 orphans
as we speak. The children also raised money through the “Kindness
Project.”
But I am here to tell
you that all this wasn't by my hands but by the hands of the
Lord. I've never wiped the tears away of a child in Sudan
. I haven't had the honor of washing the feet of a Sudanese
widow. I've never seen the loss of life face to face through
war. But I can hear the cry of the oppressed in the Sudan
all the way over here in Wilmington, NC.

“and if you spend
yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of
the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will
guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched
land.” Isaiah 58:10-11
“I am an individual
who wants nothing more than to serve the Lord. When I look
around at all the problems, needs and pain of the people in
Sudan , I feel as though I have little hands. God's hands
are huge! If enough of God's people come together hand in
hand to help our brothers and sisters in Christ, lives can
be changed, transformed, and renewed.”
Please support MWP.
It is a blessing all the way around.
