School Children: Through Their Wounds

All of his family were hiding in the bush; the Arabs burnt the bush and killed them in the fire; he is all alone.

- Akok Akok Aleu , age 10

Hopes to Become: Doctor

 

 

He is unsure of his parents; there was a raid; his parents were abducted; he ran with his grandparents; the bodies of his parents were not found so he doesn't know if they are alive are dead; he lives with his grandmother.

Mother died and father died during bombing; brother died and she is now alone.

Parents were abducted in 1998; lived in relatives house for 3 years then his grandmother found him and brought him here; his brother was killed during abduction of parents.

Parents are in Khartoum; he is not sure if they are alive or already dead; lives with an uncle.

They ran away in 1998; her parents were shot dead in front of her; she ran away with her grandmother; her grandmother died and now she lives with her grandfather.

Mother and father abducted by Arabs; brother and sister killed by Arabs .

- Peter Lual Garang, age 10

Family was all abducted during the war; she survived in her uncle's house - he died last year.

Doesn't know where his family is; he was told they were taken to the North but they have not come back.
