Wells
in Sudan
After
five decades of Islamic invasion, persecution, forced conversion,
enslavement and genocide, Sudan has been declared the poorest
nation in the world. Although many factors make this harsh
reality evident, none make it as clear as the lack of clean
drinking water.
With much of Sudan
being in the Sahara Desert , a primary tool of war the militias
used against the South was to poison their water wells. Wells
are the only source of water in much of Sudan for the majority
of the year as even in rainy season, pure water is hard to
capture.
Hundreds of Sudanese
die each day simply for lack of pure drinking water.
Make Way Partners has
drilled many wells through the indigenous Church where they
are both a life giving source of encouragement to the local
Christians while also an evangelistic tool in the community.
We have the ability
and desire to drill wells for Internally Displaced People
(IDP) from Darfur and Southern Sudanese in our communities.
It costs approximately
$13,000 to drill one well in Sudan. Click
