What We Do

There are at least 30 million known victims of human trafficking in the world today. Not 19th century slaves, but 30,000,000 modern-day slaves.

Make Way Partners' primary focus is the prevention of trafficking in humans from the countries of origin, while educating and mobilizing the Body of Christ in the countries of destination and transit. We in the West are the primary countries of destination, as well as, the benefactors of many services from these slaves.

THE PROBLEM

There are four primary areas of slavery into which children, as well as adults, are trafficked (or sold):

THE SEX-SLAVE TRADE

Primarily young women and children, including toddlers, are sold into pornography and prostitution. There are thousands of these victims enslaved in the United States and throughout Western Europe.

CHILD SOLDIERS

In Africa thousands of young boys and girls are forced into military camps where they are trained to fight as rebels and are often beaten, raped, and malnourished, as a means to training children to be young killing machines.

FORCED MANUAL LABOR

There are agricultural and manufacturing forced manual labor camps both in Western Europe and in the USA.

PROFESSIONAL BEGGING

This is Mafia organized begging. The children are forced into begging on the streets, and they retain none of what they collect. They are often forced to live in sewers, cellars or dark gutted apartments where many of them are crowded into a small room under lock and key with little to eat.

These victims are not 19th century slaves - they are modern-day slaves.

THE WORK

Make Way Partners divides the work against Human Trafficking into two basic categories:

COUNTRIES OF ORIGIN

These are countries from which the victims are taken. They are usually economically unstable and often operating under the oppression of corrupt or indifferent governments. Eastern Europe and Africa are the fastest growing regions for exporting victims into slavery.

COUNTRIES OF DESTINATION

These are countries into which the victims are sold into slavery. These countries are usually much more economically stable so that they can support the trafficking, or they have a high level of sex-tourism. Currently, the United States is the largest recipient of victims of human trafficking. Most of the victims brought into the U.S. are sold into the Sex Slave Trade or smuggled in for forced manual labor. But with committed individuals, we can change that - Your financial support to MWP makes a direct impact!

THE POWER

Make Way Partners looks to no other power than the Hope of the Gospel. This Hope is shared by Christians, like you, willing to be the incarnational presence of Christ in the world through your prayer and financial support.
